👉 Ever had neck or shoulder tension that just wouldn’t go away? The clavicle might be part of the puzzle.

The clavicle, or collarbone, is a small but mighty bone that plays a huge role in shoulder function, posture, and movement.

💡 Why the clavicle matters in massage therapy:

✔️ The clavicle acts as a bridge between the arm and the trunk - any restriction here can affect the neck, shoulder, and upper back
✔️ Several key muscles attach to the clavicle, including:
• Upper trapezius
• Pectoralis major
• Deltoid
• Sternocleidomastoid (SCM)

🧠 What massage can help with:
✨ Reduce tension in muscles that pull on the clavicle
✨ Improve shoulder mobility and mechanics
✨ Support better posture (especially with desk work or cycling)
✨ Decrease neck and shoulder discomfort caused by clavicular restriction

⚠️ Important note:
Massage therapists usually work around the clavicle (not directly on the bone) to help its function.

📍 Clinical takeaway:
When the clavicle doesn’t move well, the shoulder often compensates and that’s where pain and dysfunction can show up.
