From IATF2025 to Golden Conifer – The Power of Supporting Young SMEs

One of the greatest joys of my work is witnessing the growth of young entrepreneurs who are boldly stepping into local, regional, and international markets.

In September 2025, at the IATF in Algiers, Algeria, I met a remarkable young Zimbabwean SME in the beekeeping and bee-products business. His passion, innovation, and commitment to building a sustainable brand stayed with me.

On , 21 November 2025, at the Old Mutual and New Faces , New Voices event for women hosted at Golden Conifer, Harare, our paths crossed again , a powerful reminder of how important it is to nurture, mentor, and elevate young SMEs.

His journey reflects a truth we must continue to amplify:

🌍 Local participation builds confidence.
🌐 Regional exposure strengthens networks.
🛫 International platforms expand vision and opportunity.

Young SMEs are not just the future , but they are today’s drivers of economic transformation. When we support them, collaborate with them, and open doors for them, we accelerate inclusive growth for our nation and region.

I celebrate his courage and consistency. It is important as policy makers , private sector , development partners and transformational leaders , to remain committed to ensuring that many more young entrepreneurs find their space on global platforms , where their talent truly belongs.

Let’s continue championing young SMEs. Their success is Zimbabwe’s success.

🤝 Strengthening Trust in Zimbabwe’s Digital Financial Ecosystem

The recent signing of an MoU between Zimswitch and the Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC) marks a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s journey toward a safer, more inclusive digital financial ecosystem.

As Intelligent Business Consultancy we see this partnership as a strategic alignment between access and trust , the two pillars of any sustainable financial system.

Zimswitch, which facilitates over 75% of card-based transactions in Zimbabwe, sits at the heart of our digital payments infrastructure. The DPC, meanwhile, safeguards depositor confidence and promotes financial stability. Their collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enhancing consumer protection, risk management, and system integrity in the digital finance space.

With over 31 million registered mobile money accounts and nearly 9 million active users, digital finance has become central to how Zimbabweans transact and do business. In Q2 2024 alone, the value of electronic transactions surged by 144% to ZIG 244 billion, underscoring growing confidence in digital payments — but also highlighting the need for robust protection mechanisms.

This MoU, therefore, comes at a critical time when digital adoption must be matched by digital assurance. Trust, transparency, and consumer protection are no longer optional; they are the foundation for financial inclusion and innovation.

If implemented effectively, this partnership can:
✅ Strengthen risk monitoring and incident management
✅ Enhance consumer confidence and financial literacy
✅ Foster collaboration between regulators, banks, fintechs, and payment service providers
✅ Accelerate Zimbabwe’s progress toward inclusive digital finance

The future of finance is digital — but it must also be secure, reliable, and trusted. Partnerships like this one are a step in the right direction.
