Why 1% is the Most Powerful Number in 2026 đ
Stop trying to change your entire life by Tuesday. â
The biggest mistake people make in January is the "All or Nothing" trap. They go to the gym for 3 hours, start a 5-stop skincare routine, and read 50 pages... only to burn out by Day 10.
The Math of Success đ§Ž
If you get just 1% better every day for one year, you don't just get a "bit" better. The math looks like this:
1.01 x {365} = 37.8
Thatâs not a typo. By improving yourself by a tiny 1% every single day, you end the year 38 TIMES BETTER than you started.
The Danger of the Slide đ
On the flip side, if you get just 1% worse every day (by making excuses or cutting corners), you donât just stay the same:
0.99 x {365} = 0.03
You essentially decline to almost zero.
What is 1%? Itâs tiny stuff:
đ Reading 2 pages instead of 0.
đ§ One extra glass of water.
â° Waking up 5 mins before your alarm (instead of fighting it).
Stop waiting for a "lightning bolt" of motivation. Just be 1% less chaotic than you were yesterday.
The Bottom Line:
Focus on winning the next 24 hours by just 1%.
Comment "1%" if you're playing the long game! đ

The 9th edition of the Harare International Literature Festival is here under the theme:
We are Joy - Celebrating the ties that bind us. Joy is the key to our humanityâs survival.
âDo you see the mystery of our pain?
That we bear poverty
And are able to sing and dream sweet things
And that we never curse the air when it is warm
Or the fruit when it tastes so good
Or the lights that bounce
gently on the waters?
We bless things even in our pain.
We bless them in silence.
That is why our music is so sweet.
It makes the air remember.â
-excerpt from An African Elegy, Ben Okri
All around the world we have been terrorised, battered; catastrophe has set up camp at our
doorsteps. In spite of all this, we at LitFest Harare choose joy: to gather and celebrate its
expressions; to delve into the euphoria we experience in the worlds of words. This November let
us convene in a space of healing, of strength to gain grounding as we acknowledge the
similarities in our diversity. The tree that grows is the one that's watered. We choose to nourish
and cultivate what we as humans have in common; there is much more than what divides us.
Let us explore those ties, and bind them stronger.
