Legal Officer Internship: Local Human Rights NGO

A Zimbabwean human rights organisation is looking for an intern to join its legal team. This opportunity is open to persons who are motivated to learn and make a difference in the human rights sector in Zimbabwe.
Main duties
The ideal candidate will be responsible for: Assisting in drafting court pleadings and court appearances; Researching legal questions and drafting memoranda for existing cases; Assisting in planning of workshops, trainings and/ or conferences; Assisting in interviewing victims of human rights violations and documenting their cases for action; Assisting in production of human rights violations reports; Performing any other duties as requested
Profile of the suitable candidate
Tertiary training in law; Prior work experience as an intern in a human rights organisation will be an added advantage; Keen interest in making lasting contribution.
Period of engagement
The Legal Intern will be engaged for 12 months.
Remuneration and conditions
This is not a salaried position but the organisation will provide a small allowance to cover transport and other incidentals.
