Rushing your second coat? That’s where things start going wrong 👀

Here’s what you need to know:

💡 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀
Usually ready for a second coat in 2–4 hours (but always check the tin as not all paints are the same)

💡 𝗢𝗶𝗹-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀
Usually 4 hours or more (again, always check the tin!)

💡 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 = 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴
If it’s chilly or damp, drying time increases.

💡 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗼𝗻 = 𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀
Painting over a coat that’s not fully dry can cause lifting, patchiness, or uneven colour.

💡 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗿𝘆 = 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗮𝘁
Just because it feels dry doesn’t mean it’s cured enough for the next layer.

👉 𝗜𝗳 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁, 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿.
Good paintwork is 50% patience, 50% product.
