Shona Music is a representation of traditional Zimbabwean music, featuring three iconic instruments: Mbira (thumb piano), Ngoma (drums), and Hosho (shakers). This work is inspired by village life, where people gather under the moonlight, relying on natural light and music for entertainment. That's how they live - during the day, they work in the gardens, and at night, they come together to socialize and make music for entertainment.

Mudendere (Nest)
Acrylics on canvas
50 × 63 cm
(pronounced _moo‑deh‑NEH‑reh_)
A warm snapshot of daily life: a mother stirs a pot, her husband lounges beside her debating which juicy cut of meat to grill, a child is glued to the TV, Grandma walks in cradle‑holding a twin, and the baby lets out a soft, hungry cry for milk, turning the kitchen into a cozy nest of laughter and a tiny, demanding soundtrack.
Mudendere is a word we use most of the time to describe inside of the house. In Shona it conveys comfort, togetherness and the gentle hum of everyday life.
