I’ve been reflecting on Kenya’s decision to allow women time off during menstruation, and a small encounter I had recently brought the issue close to my heart.

I was at Creamy Inn getting ice cream when the young lady serving me forgot to give me my change. She handed me my order, then quietly stepped aside to speak to a woman next to her, likely her supervisor. She politely asked to be excused for a few minutes so she could go to a nearby pharmacy to buy pills. Another attendant came forward, and I heard her explain that she was experiencing period pain.

When I later asked the supervisor for my change, I gently mentioned that the young woman didn’t seem to be feeling well. The response was a smile and the words, “She has a headache.”

That moment stayed with me.

Here was a capable young woman serving through pain, yet the truth had to be softened. Not because the pain wasn’t real, but because honesty about women’s bodies is still uncomfortable in many spaces.

Faith teaches us that God cares about the whole person; body, soul, and spirit. We are instructed to love our neighbour, to carry one another’s burdens, and to show mercy rather than demand performance at all costs. Strength, in God’s eyes, is not proven by silent suffering.

There is at least one day in many women’s cycles when pain is heavy and concentration is difficult. Acknowledging this reality is not asking for favour; it is asking for compassion. Even Jesus paused to rest when His body was weary, and He never measured worth by endurance alone.

At the same time, wisdom is necessary. Support must not become a reason to sideline women or question their calling and capability. God’s design of difference was never meant to produce disadvantage.

My prayer is for workplaces and communities shaped by truth and grace; where women do not have to rename pain to be accepted, and where care is not mistaken for weakness.

And yes… ice cream lifts the spirit, but it does not heal cramps. 🙂

THE RIGHT ATTITUDE IN A SEASON OF WAITING.

3️⃣ Guard Your Mouth

Many times we kill our own prayers with our mouths. Israel in the wilderness kept complaining “we should have died in Egypt… we are tired… Moses brought us here to suffer.” Because of that, they never entered the promised land. Their own words cancelled their promise.

Today, some of us say, “I will never get married,” “I will die poor,” “my children are useless.” Those words destroy your faith and invite the devil to agree with you.

You pray for a new job but keep saying, “There are no jobs in this country, it’s hopeless.” You pray for healing but say, “I know I will die from this.” You cannot pray life and speak death.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Speak what you believe, not what you see. Speak hope even when things look dry. Speak what GOD says about you.

Stay Inside The Fence
....2. The Devil is Patiently Waiting

The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:8:

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

The devil doesn’t come when you are strong in prayer, when you are inside God’s fence. He waits for you to open the gate yourself. He waits for you to say, “Let me just drink a little. Let me just text that old lover. Let me visit the witchdoctor just once. It's just one......What’s the harm?”

The harm is bigger than the pleasure. One mistake can open doors you never planned for.

Look at David, a man after God’s own heart. He was a mighty king, a worshipper, chosen by God. But one day, when he was supposed to be guarding his heart and kingdom, he saw Bathsheba bathing. Instead of turning away, he gave in to temptation. That one glance led to adultery, deceit, and even murder. David’s failure was not because the devil surprised him, but because he opened the door by stepping away from God’s protection.

And Samson; a man set apart by God with great strength. He was supposed to keep himself pure, but he loved the wrong women and broke his vows. The enemy patiently waited until Samson let his guard down. When he revealed the secret of his strength to Delilah, the devil pounced, and Samson lost everything.

Both men were strong, both had great potential, but the devil was patient. He waited for them to let their guard down, and the cost was heavy.
