Who are Teach For Zimbabwe Fellows, and what do they do?

Teach For Zimbabwe Fellows are passionate, driven young leaders who commit to serving in classrooms and communities where they are needed most.
They don’t just teach — they inspire. Fellows work to improve learning outcomes, mentor students, and build safe, supportive environments where every child can thrive. At the same time, they develop leadership skills that empower them to drive change far beyond the classroom.

They are educators, mentors, and changemakers — shaping the future of Zimbabwe, one learner at a time.

Alumni impact continues to demonstrate the long-term power of Teach For Zimbabwe in shaping leaders who drive change beyond the classroom. Through a strong and growing alumni network, these leaders are transforming communities and creating sustainable solutions to local challenges.

Today, Lindiwe Chitubura shares her story:

“I am a Teach For Zimbabwe alumna and a social entrepreneur, and I founded a community college to support young people who dropped out of school due to challenges such as long walking distances, child marriages, and child labour. At the college, we provide a second chance through academic support for learners rewriting their subjects, alongside life skills and practical projects that promote self-reliance.
My journey was shaped by the fellowship’s focus on education equity and entrepreneurship, as well as the power of networks. Through a global connection, I was able to start a goat project that now supports our work and strengthens sustainability. I believe we must continue to be torchbearers in our communities, empowering young people to become future leaders.”

This is the power of alumni turning purpose into lasting community impact.

🌱 A Belated Birthday Appreciation to Prof. Caiphus Nziramasanga

We at Teach For Zimbabwe take a moment to extend our warmest belated birthday wishes to a true pioneer in Zimbabwe’s education landscape — Prof. Caiphus Nziramasanga.

Prof. Nziramasanga is widely celebrated for his visionary leadership in education, most notably through chairing the landmark Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Education and Training (1998–1999), commonly known as the Nziramasanga Commission. His work boldly reimagined education as a system that should go beyond rote learning to one that nurtures skills, critical thinking, creativity, and practical relevance for learners across Zimbabwe.
His lifelong commitment continues to inspire educators, policymakers, and young leaders to push for an education system that truly serves every child — especially those in underserved communities.

As Teach For Zimbabwe, we are daily reminded that his vision is not just historical—it is still deeply relevant today. It challenges us to keep building classrooms where learners are empowered not just to pass exams, but to solve problems, lead, and transform their communities.

🎉 Happy belated birthday, Prof. Nziramasanga.
Thank you for your unwavering dedication to education reform and for laying a foundation that continues to guide our work.
