AFRICA DAY!
As we commemorate Africa Day, I also reflect on the 10 year milestone of the Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa at LSE, an institution whose intellectual evolution mirrors the growing complexity of Africa’s developmental discourse across ethnography, politics, economics, trade, and governance.
Africa’s realities remain interconnected yet deeply unique, shaped by institutions, political architecture, historical trajectories, and structural constraints within the global economy. While some countries are demonstrating encouraging signs of transformation and resilience, much of the continent continues to grapple with fragile growth, policy inconsistency, and institutional weaknesses.
At a time when the world is moving with increasing urgency, Africa cannot afford developmental complacency. Reflection alone is insufficient; strategic action, institutional reform, and policy coherence are imperative.
It is also my conviction that the Church has both a spiritual and strategic role in Africa’s development. Beyond theology, it remains one of the continent’s most influential institutions and should therefore occupy a meaningful place in both policy and strategic prayer.

WEDNESDAY WISDOM
Discern people. Discern environments. Some places value your utility, others value your presence. Never mistake being needed for being genuinely appreciated. Wisdom is knowing where your grace, purpose, and favour truly belong.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man - Luke 2:52
