Yesterday, Umguza RDC joined hands with EMA, Lupane State University, DVS, and Ward 14 community members in a collaborative research effort focused on finding solutions to eliminate Dichapetalum cymosum (umkhawuzane)β€” a major threat to livestock and local ecosystems.

The team explored various approaches, and a mechanical removal method was implemented in 3 villages in Ward 14. We are now closely monitoring the sites and awaiting results to assess the effectiveness of this method.

Dichapetalum cymosum (umkhawuzane) has long been a harmful invasive specie and poisonous, impacting both livelihoods and biodiversity. As we await the outcomes, we remain committed to working together with our partners and communities to find sustainable solutions.

Join us as we take this important step towards reclaiming our environment and protecting our livestock.
