GOVERNMENT TO CONSTRUCT MORE DAMS FOR HYDRO ELECTRICITY POWER GENERATION AND IRRIGATION

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has disclosed that government is planning to construct more dams that will be used for hydro electricity power generation and irrigation.

President Hichilema says the construction of more dams will help ease the challenges of inadequate power supply in the country.

He says government is investing in other sources of energy such as solar energy that will generate thousands of megawatts.

The President said this today when he officiated at the 125 years anniversary celebration of Chikuni Mission and the Radio Station in Chisekesi, Monze district.

Mr HICHILEMA also stated that irrigation methods are being considered to prepare for any possible drought in future.

He has meanwhile urged farmers to work hard and grow different crops to provide a variety of foods on the market.

President HICHILEMA has alsom encouraged Chikuni mission to reconsider engaging into farming and ranching.

He has further appealed for strong partnership among the Catholic church, the government and Chikuni mission for the good of the country.
