Pose: Parivrtta Parsvakonasana
Sanskrit: परिवृत्त पर्श्वकोणासन
Sleeping on an old springboard bed got my back feeling a little rough at the moment. Incorporating spinal twists and subtle back bends into my practice this week has been a life saver!
As demonstrated in the second image (swipe left), raising the back knee encourages balance and is a popular modification to play with as you work towards the full posture.
During my teacher training we often spoke about the importance of not being goal orientated. To develope a strong foundational practice of basic postures before concerning ourselves with the more elaborate and dynamic 'pretty poses'. To paraphrase one of my teachers, the wonderful .sheehy.982 "Yoga isn't about getting anywhere, it's about listening to your body and working from where you're at." Enjoy your practice and by all means challenge yourself, just respect that wherever you're at is exactly where you need to be. Happy asana, my friends. - Namaste

Taking some time to reflect and work inwards. I've decided to work on some new content to reflect my growing passion for alternative wellness practices which parallel the philosophy and message of yoga.
Yoga is so much more than asana, and offers so much to teach us beyond the mat. I've learned that yoga, in its essence, takes on many forms. As I continue a journey of learning, l shall share the lessons along the way in the hope that it may inspire you to MOVE INWARDS.
