Press Statement by Greenit Environmental Management Network (GEMN)
Greenit Environmental Management Network (GEMN) warmly welcomes the announcement by Kanchibiya Lawmaker, Hon. Sunday Chanda, that he will formally move a motion in Parliament this week to press for the establishment of an Environmental Court. This bold step reflects a growing national commitment to safeguarding Zambia’s natural heritage and ensuring that environmental justice is not delayed or denied.
As an organization dedicated to environmental advocacy and sustainable community development, GEMN believes that the creation of an Environmental Court will strengthen accountability, provide specialized legal recourse, and empower communities affected by pollution, deforestation, and climate change. Such a court will not only uphold constitutional rights but also reinforce Zambia’s alignment with international commitments under the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 13 on climate action.
We commend Hon. Chanda’s leadership and urge all Members of Parliament to support this motion. Establishing an Environmental Court is more than a legal reform—it is a moral imperative to protect the health of our people, the integrity of our ecosystems, and the future of generations yet to come. GEMN stands ready to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure this vision becomes a reality.

Smart agriculture is revolutionizing the way we grow our food, making it more efficient, productive, and sustainable.
With smart agriculture, farmers can:
✅ Monitor soil moisture and temperature in real-time
✅ Optimize irrigation systems for maximum water savings
✅ Predict and prevent crop diseases
✅ Increase yields and reduce waste
✅ Make data-driven decisions
Greenit is practicing it, you can too.
What do you think about smart agriculture?

Zambia is among other Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries predicted to receive normal to above-normal rainfall during the 2025 to 2026 rainfall season.
This forecast was released following the Thirty-First Southern African Regional Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF-31) held in Lusaka, Zambia.
