The ministry of commerce, trade and industry (MCTI) in Zambia is responsible for providing policy direction in the commercial, trade and industrial sectors of the country. In its role to develop programs for industrial development and to enhance the sectors contribution to Zambia’s sustainable socioeconomic growth and development.

We are attending the review and consultative review on the National Local Content Strategy (NLS). With plans to utilize this tool for business growth. Through this strategy, the government has strengthened local content regulations by prioritizing the use of local resources and labor.

The NLS vision— inclusive growth, sustainable development, more use of Zambian goods and services in priority sectors — lines up with our move to professionalise domestic work: training Standards, equipment made/serviced locally, and safer conditions for staff.

We’re keen to explore how local-content incentives can grow youth and women-led enterprises in our supply chain (eco friendly products, textile care, safe chemicals distribution).
