Zambian woman develops E-commerce application

Twenty-one-year-old Karen Tembo has developed an e-commerce application, Zedex, which enables Zambian female-led businesses to sell their products online.

The platform, which mimics Amazon and Ali-express, is aimed at supporting small local businesses.

In an exclusive interview, Tembo shares the genesis of Zedex.

“Zedex is a unique shopping app which is completely Zambian-owned. We provide an extremely safe shopping environment for customers because we play a role in each and every transaction and order made on our platform,” she said.

Currently, the platform has on-boarded 40 female entrepreneurs, who sell products such as jewellery, skincare products, home décor, make-up, lingerie, among others.
