They control attention, that is why they have to be simple and clear. Secondly, they influence emotion because people don't make decisions based on logic alone

WHAT DESIGNERS CAN LEARN FROM THE OBAMA '08 CAMPAIGN

When designer Sol Sender and his team were tasked with creating the visual identity for Barrack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, they didn't start with sketches, they started with understanding the candidate. The team immersed themselves in Obama's ideas by reading his books and studying his speeches. One message stood out from his address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention: America is not divided into red states and blue states, but united as one people.

That insight became the strategic foundation of the entire campaign, shaping a powerful narrative about unity, hope, and a shared future.
