Dear fellow Zambian, be mindful and sensitive in your utterances

Yes, the court has ruled. Yes, the State will take over the funeral, but that doesn’t mean the family deserves to be insulted, mocked, or disrespected online.

Losing a loved one is already painful enough. Now imagine going through that pain while being dragged, mocked, and insulted on social media, just because your personal wishes didn’t align with the State’s.

Wanting a private funeral doesn’t make them enemies of the State. It just means they had personal wishes, like any other family would. They are simply a grieving family who wanted to bury their loved one in a way that made sense to them and that’s not a crime.

They may have lost the case, but they haven’t lost their dignity, let’s not throw hate where support is needed.

You can be political, you can have opinions, but at the end of the day, be human first.
