SHIMASTA’s BIOGRAPHY (Shimasta )

Shimasta was born Kanyanta Alexandra Musonda in 1981 on September 25.
A first Born in a family of 4 boys and 2 girls. Married with 3 boys and 2 girls.

Shimasta did his primary levels at Twatasha school in Chingola, Secondary levels at Sangtang secondary school and at Kamwala high school in Lusaka. He has certificates in

MUSIC
Shimasta started his music in church (Apostolic Faith) Jnr choir in Chingola. Later on He started participating in variety shows as a dancer.
when Shimasta came to Lusaka he formed a rap group called Super Squad, the 3 member group took part in a lot of competitions and won in many of them. He’s group mates used to rap in English but Shimasta did his rapping in a deeper Bemba language with rich vernacular sentences and parables in his verses inspired by Nas (an American Rapper). At that time no one was rapping like Shimasta.
Shimasta was a curtain raiser for one of the iconic Bands known as The Burning Youth. He performed and featured in 3 of their songs from the TIMUYAMIKE Album.
Shimasta went on to feature on The Kalimfunku HipHop duo BLACK MUNTU’s two Albums namely WISAKAMANA and KOKOLIKO which made Shimasta’s unique rapping style a talk of the town. He went on to feature YESU KALTURE’s tiya ngoma gospel song which received massive airplay, He then featured the Song Bird NALU’s Nalelo Chilelila which was a instant Hit. Then Joined The Zambezi Symphony Band led by NASTY D where he got exposed in the music showbiz with songs such as Ichakumutima Which was Shimasta’s first solo song. The song featured in NASTY D’s Zambezi yeka yeka Album.
