*Title*: *Children of God persevere*
*Text:* Psalm 23:6
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
Many people misunderstand this verse. They think it promises a life without suffering. But Psalm 23 never says believers will avoid valleys. Instead, it promises that the Shepherd will never leave us in the valley.
David speaks with confidence: *“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me.”* This confidence comes from remembering God’s past faithfulness. The Lord had restored him, guided him, protected him, and provided for him.
Because of that, David knows that God’s goodness and mercy will follow him *all the days of his life* — not only in good seasons, but even in trials.
God’s goodness and mercy do not mean the absence of suffering. They mean the presence of God in suffering.
And the promise does not end in this life. David says, *“I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”* The Shepherd who leads us in life will also bring us safely home.
Child of God, persevere.
God’s goodness follows you today, and His presence awaits you forever.

Scripture Text: Psalms 23:1
Title: The LORD is My Shepherd
“The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1
David did not write these words from a palace of comfort, but from a life marked by danger, betrayal, and loss. Yet he could confidently say, “The LORD is my Shepherd.”
A shepherd leads his sheep, protects them, and provides for them. The sheep do not understand every path, but they trust the one who guides them.
When life feels uncertain…
When prayers seem unanswered…
When trials test your faith…
Remember: if the Lord is your Shepherd, you are not abandoned.
You may not have everything you desire, but in Christ you have everything you truly need. What He withholds is not good for you. What He allows is under His control. What He promises will surely come to pass.
Today, rest in His sovereignty.
Trust in His provision.
Follow in obedience.
Ask yourself: Can I truly say, “The LORD is my Shepherd”?
If you belong to Jesus, you can walk through any valley with confidence — because the Shepherd walks with you.
🙏🏾 Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You as my Shepherd. Lead me, provide for me, and teach me to follow You faithfully. Amen
