Having worked and been exposed to various natural resources across the country, I firmly believe that Zambia possesses abundant natural resources, particularly in its forests. There is a significant need for us to invest heavily in this sector. The forests offer numerous economic opportunities that can significantly contribute to the growth of our economy.

Forests in Zambia are a vital resource, not only for their ecological benefits but also for their economic potential. They provide raw materials for industries such as timber, paper, and furniture manufacturing. Additionally, forests are a source of non-timber products like fruits, nuts, and medicinal plants, which can be harvested sustainably to support local communities and generate income.

Moreover, forests play a crucial role in tourism, attracting visitors for activities such as wildlife viewing, hiking, and ecotourism. By developing infrastructure and promoting sustainable tourism practices, we can create jobs and boost local economies.

Investing in the forest sector also means investing in conservation and sustainable management practices. This ensures that our forests continue to provide environmental services such as carbon sequestration, water regulation, and soil preservation, which are essential for combating climate change and maintaining biodiversity.

Took some time off my busy schedule to attend a Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship workshop early this year, and I was delighted to learn that Dr. Jacob Hamanenga, a senior lecturer at The Copperbelt University designed a Nshima cooking machine which cooks in 10 minutes.
