Born and raised in Wusakile, Kitwe, I completed my secondary education at Chamboli Secondary School. My academic journey officially began in 2018 when I applied to the Copperbelt University under the School of Natural Sciences. I was offered admission, a proud moment, but unfortunately, I was not granted sponsorship. That setback did not define me; it refined me.
Determined and hopeful, I applied to Mulungushi University under the School of Science, Engineering and Technology (Pre-Engineering). By resilience and faith, I became part of the first cohort to receive sponsorship from the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB). That opportunity marked the true beginning of my engineering journey.
In my fourth year, I was recognized by the Mulungushi University EIZ Student Chapter as the Best Outstanding Performing Student in Mechanical Engineering. Through focus, consistency, and persistence, I graduated with a DISTINCTION on 1st November 2024, the first Distinction in the School of Engineering and Technology.
Campus life demanded discipline and sacrifice. Engineering was never just about passing examinations; it was about understanding problems before attempting solutions. Long nights of study, group discussions, practical sessions, and project-based learning shaped my mindset. University trained me to think critically, collaborate effectively, and remain composed under pressure.
This journey taught me that rejection is not failure, it is often redirection. Being denied sponsorship initially felt discouraging, yet it positioned me for a greater path.
To anyone pursuing education: remain patient. Stay focused. Define your purpose clearly. When your problem is well defined, your methods become meaningful. Success is not measured by speed, but by direction and persistence.
Your background does not limit your future. Where you begin does not determine where you finish.
Engineering tests more than intelligence; it tests endurance and commitment. There were moments of exhaustion and doubt moments when I questioned whether I truly belonged or would eventually earn the degree. But growth happens beyond comfort zones. Challenges are not punishments; they are preparation for the next level.
Today, these lessons guide me in the industry as I contribute to a 300MW power plant construction project, serving in a QA/QC role. Engineering in practice demands maturity and accountability. In school, mistakes cost marks; in the field, mistakes carry responsibility. Professional growth requires not only knowledge, but integrity, precision, and ownership.

BALANCING ACADEMICS AND AMBITION: An Engineer’s Journey

Balancing academics at Mulungushi University required discipline, focus, and consistency. Success in engineering is not driven by feelings it’s driven by responsibility. A principle that guided me then and now is: “Do not do what you can do today, tomorrow.” Procrastination quietly steals excellence.

My journey taught me lessons beyond formulas. Respect artisans they carry practical wisdom that textbooks can’t teach. On site, you learn to communicate technical decisions, manage pressure, and take responsibility because it follows your signature, not your degree.

I now work on the Lusaka–Ndola Dual Carriageway Project, handling grouted rubble slope protection (stone pitching). Being part of national infrastructure deepens your understanding of teamwork, quality, and accountability.

The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) played a vital role in supporting students through internships, something I advocated for as a student.

I call myself “The Street Engineer.” Before engineering school, I sold clothes in Lusaka’s compounds. That was my starting point, not my destination.

Whether you’re from Kapiri, Choma, Zambia Compound, Chinsali, or any part of Zambia, your beginning does not define your future. Use it as fuel. Stay disciplined. Stay humble. Stay consistent. The journey may not be easy, but it is worth it.

HOW I ENDED UP BECOMING A GRADUATE IN ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

I was born and raised in KITWE, IPUSUKILO COMPOUND, and completed my Grade 12 at MITANTO SECONDARY SCHOOL in 2017. Like many young people, I initially aspired to pursue MEDICINE, and I later enrolled in NATURAL SCIENCES at university as a pathway toward that goal.

Due to financial and administrative challenges during my transition, I proceeded with my SECOND-CHOICE program, Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Although unplanned, I soon discovered that engineering aligned better with my strengths—PROBLEM-SOLVING, INNOVATION, and HANDS-ON WORK. What started as an alternative gradually became a passion.

Throughout my studies, teamwork played a major role, especially during project-based learning, where collaboration, persistence, and shared decision-making became essential skills.

I graduated with a MERIT ON 31ST OCTOBER 2025, and my final year project—COMPLETED WITH MY LONG-TIME PROJECT PARTNER —WAS TITLED “INTELLIGENT SOCKET FOR LOAD MANAGEMENT.” The project involved designing a smart electrical socket that could:

> BE CONTROLLED USING A MOBILE PHONE APPLICATION
>ALLOW ADJUSTMENT OF CURRENT LIMITS
>MONITOR REAL-TIME POWER USAGE

The motivation behind the project was practical and user-focused:

1. Parents could remotely CUT OFF POWER if children overused appliances such as gaming consoles, regardless of distance.
2. The socket included a TRIPPING MECHANISM—for example, when set at 10A, plugging in a cooker would trip the system, while low-current devices such as phones, PCs, and refrigerators would function normally. The current limit could later be adjusted via the app to accommodate higher-power appliances.
3. Once switched off using the mobile app, the socket could ONLY BE REACTIVATED VIA THE PHONE, enhancing safety and control.

The design was based on STANDARD ELECTRICAL SOCKETS commonly used in homes, student hostels, offices, hospitals, and clinics.
