People love getting a glimpse behind the scenes of the brands they follow. These stories add meaning to a piece long after it’s been gifted or hung on a wall, and they help spark one of the most powerful forms of marketing there is: word of mouth.
One question I get asked often is: “How do you measure the success of social media marketing?”
Yes, we can look at reports, reach, engagement, and analytics. Those metrics are important.
But my years in retail taught me to look at two things first:
1. Are enquiries increasing?
2. Are sales being made and are people walking through the door?
At the end of the day, marketing should support business growth. That’s why I like to combine digital tools with traditional marketing principles, focusing not only on what happens online, but also on the real-world results that follow.
This reel is a great example. It performed well online, but more importantly, some of the clothing featured in it sold. That’s the kind of result that really matters.

The funny thing is… good marketing actually DOES require a ridiculous amount of thinking. 😅
