CSOS or Court – do you really have to go through CSOS first?

Not anymore.

A recent ruling confirms that you can choose how to resolve disputes in community schemes:

*Use the Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) for a quicker, more affordable solution
*Go directly to court for complex or urgent matters

And importantly:

*Magistrates’ Courts can also be used, especially for straightforward claims like unpaid levies, subject to limits:

* Up to R200,000 (district court)
* Up to R400,000 (regional court)

Bottom line: CSOS is an option — not a requirement — and you now have more than one court option available.
