For some individuals, eating looks a little different. And that’s okay!

Feeding tubes are one of the many ways people receive the nutrition, hydration, and medication that their bodies need. Feeding tubes can support safety, comfort, growth, and energy, while still allowing space for enjoyment, connection, and choice around food where appropriate.

A feeding tube does not take away someone’s identity.
It does not mean that progress has stopped.
And it does not mean oral feeding will never be part of the journey.

As Speech-Language Therapists, we work alongside families and individuals to support safe feeding, meaningful participation, and quality of life, always guided by what is right for that person.

This week, we honour the many feeding journeys that exist, and the strength it takes to walk them 🤍

Thanks so much to for her wonderful visuals, which we have included in our post.

The Postgraduate Certification included online components, live virtual classrooms/tutorials, and face-to-face practical and clinical components. A short summary of learning areas covered during 2024 included the Bobath Concept, Neuroscience, Typical Development, Classification of Cerebral Palsy, Movement Analysis, a Problem-solving Approach to Treatment & Management of Individuals with Cerebral Palsy and Handling.
