Georgetown – “Animals”

“Animals” was conceived a while back when Tiaan was sitting on a very nice slide guitar riff. After some time he started sketching out a verse, and while the band was on tour, our Trombone player Thabo Thabone Masilela the Trombonist added a verse and chorus in Zulu that brought a new layer of rhythm and cultural texture.
Whilst busy with our soundcheck at one of our favorite music venues The Music Kitchen, we played around with what we had and the structure came together, and so a song was born. Instinctively the avid music loving owner Ian Mitchell was listening in and said, “why don’t you play it tonight?”.
We were reluctant at first, but gave it a go and the crowd’s response sealed the deal.
Soon after, we took the song to High seas studios in Johannesburg, where it was recorded and filmed it in studio.
“Animals” is a reflection of freedom, instinct, and shared musical chemistry.
