The MDDA Opens 2026/27 Annual Call for Community Media Grant Funding Applications

03 July 2026 - The Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) is pleased to announce the opening of its 2026/27 Annual Call for Grant Funding Applications, inviting eligible community media organisations across South Africa to apply for financial support from 3 July to 31 July 2026.

The annual grant funding call forms part of the MDDA's ongoing commitment to promoting media development and diversity by supporting sustainable, independent, and community-owned media projects that provide access to information, amplify local voices, and strengthen democracy.

The Agency invites eligible community radio, community television, community print, and community digital media organisations to submit applications for grant funding. In line with its legislative mandate, the MDDA will continue to prioritise media projects that serve rural, under-served and historically disadvantaged communities, with particular emphasis on publications produced in indigenous languages.

This approach contributes to greater media diversity, improved access to information, and meaningful public participation.
