As we count down to TDP's 50th anniversary, we are looking back to where it all began.
In 1976, Willem Theron founded Theron du Plessis, now known as TDP. He later went on to co-found PSG, helping to build one of South Africa's most respected financial services groups.
Over the coming months, we will be sharing some of Willem's insights and lessons from a lifetime in business. Whether you are running a business, thinking of starting one, or simply interested in entrepreneurship, there's much to learn from someone who has successfully done both.

Meet the Next Generation of TDP: Kaylin Coetzer
Kaylin joins TDP SA with a diverse background in business management, hospitality, marketing, entrepreneurship, and high-performance sport. She holds a Diploma in Business Management and has managed a guesthouse, run her own jewellery business, and represented South Africa as a Protea netball player at both Under-19 and Under-21 level. She has also coached numerous netball teams, developing a reputation for discipline, teamwork, and determination.
As TDP celebrates 50 years in business, we asked Kaylin: What have you enjoyed most about joining the TDP SA team?
"What I have enjoyed most about joining the TDP team has been the opportunity to learn and grow every day. As a new employee, I have already gained many new skills and developed a better understanding of the work and processes, which has been both exciting and rewarding.
I have also really enjoyed getting to know my colleagues and becoming part of such a welcoming and supportive team. Everyone has been helpful and willing to share their knowledge, which has made settling in much easier. Working alongside amazing people and building new relationships has been one of the highlights of my experience so far".
