It’s World Turtle Day. They’ve been on the planet for over 200 million years. They know stuff. We listen and learn.

The turtle theory is simple: don’t rush. Don’t panic. Don’t look sideways. Just keep going.

Feels like the right speed for a Sunday in Plett. And pretty much always.

Plettenberg Bay sits on the migration path of some of the Indian Ocean’s most ancient travellers. Every year, endangered turtle hatchlings drift south along the Agulhas Current, and Plett’s beaches become part of their journey. Some wash ashore. Locals find them, wrap them in towels, and get them to the rescue network.

An ode to Plett, because we love it here. And it’s ’s home.

Plettenberg Bay is often referred to as ‘The Jewel of the Garden Route’ and it only takes one visit to our special part of the world to understand why.

The drive in. The beach on our doorstep. The seal colony at Robberg. Cathedral Rock at low tide. Ancient forest in the Tsitsikamma. Sensational sunsets. All of it.
