Really not a cool sport for the poor horse.

Every single year hundreds of horses die on racetracks across the United States, not from accidents, but from the direct physical demands placed on animals that are pushed beyond what their bodies can handle. 🐎

Many are given legal performance-enhancing drugs to mask pain and keep them running when they should be resting.
When a racehorse can no longer perform it is not retired to a peaceful pasture in most cases. It is sold, slaughtered, or simply abandoned. The industry that made millions from that animal moves on to the next one without looking back. 😔

The people in the stands are drinking champagne and placing bets while the animal carrying their hopes has no say in any of it, no choice, no rest, no life outside of what makes money for its owners. We call it sport but it only works as a sport if you completely ignore the perspective of the animal involved.

Would we accept this treatment for any other animal? 🤔
