As much as the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence in South Africa ends on 10 December 2025 we continue the fight against violence on individuals and especially young children. Furthermore, the campaign forms part of a global effort to raise awareness of the impact of violence on individuals, families and communities.

As ASSITEJ South Africa, we stand firmly against violence directed at anyone, regardless of gender, identity or background. Our work is centred on children and young people, and we place particular importance on protecting their safety, wellbeing and rights. Violence against children remains a serious concern in South Africa and across the world, and it demands consistent attention from families, communities and institutions.

During the 16 Days of Activism, we join partners, artists, educators and community groups (across South Africa) in promoting care, respect and accountability. Through our programmes and our work in Theatre for Young Audiences, we advocate for environments where children can grow, learn and express themselves without fear. We encourage all members of our network to take part in conversations, activities and commitments that strengthen child protection and prevent harm in every setting.
