This is the face of the very first Sitting Pretty Giraffe I created. My photography was very basic as I sat him on the wall next to a veggie patch. I was experimenting and had not designed clothing. I used plastic eyes with hooded lid. The clothes I made were shorts and bow tie for boys and flimsy tutus for girls. When giraffe print was no longer available, I tried using tshwe tshwe. I felt this would give them an African feel. But the stiff tshwe tshwe fabric broke many a needle and finger nail. I then found the mustard fabric with patches that I still use today. I made a few changes, the arms are now attached by a button which creates a hinge and the giraffe is a bit taller. The eyes are embroidered as I stopped trusting the safety of the plastic eyes. Clothing is dungarees and bow or neck tie for boys. The girls have full tutus with press stud fastening and three layers of tulle. The Giraffe are very popular with customers and I sold 16 last year.
