Cable Fault Causes Power Interruptions in Ivory Park Ext. 2

Eskom Hld SOC Ltd says customers in Ivory Park Extension 2 are currently experiencing electricity supply interruptions due to a cable fault.

A test van is on site and technicians are conducting fault-finding to locate and repair the problem. Eskom has indicated that the estimated time of restoration is not yet available, but updates will be shared as work continues on site.

Eskom has apologised for the inconvenience caused to affected residents.

FOUR SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF STOLEN VEHICLE IN IVORY PARK

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Northern Region Task Team Officers arrested four (4) male suspects for possession of a reported stolen vehicle in the Ivory Park area.

Acting on information received from the Crime Intelligence Unit, about a white Toyota Land Cruiser reported stolen in the Free State Province. Officers launched a targeted operation, and while patrolling the area, the vehicle was spotted on Republic Road, in Tswelopele Ext 8, with four male occupants, two in the front and two seated behind.

Officers swiftly intervened and apprehended all four suspects. A systematic check confirmed the vehicle was reported stolen under a Free State case.

The suspects, aged between thirty-five (35) and thirty-nine (39), were detained at Ivory Park Police Station, facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and illegal immigration.

JRA IMPROVES ROADS IN IVORY PARK

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) rolled out a series of interventions to improve road infrastructure in Ivory Park as part of the Mayor’s High-Impact Service Delivery Operation, led by MMC Jack Sekwaila, on Tuesday, 09 September 2025.

Key improvements included:
• Grading gravel road surfaces along Kusasa Street.
• Repairing damaged road surfaces on the busy Freedom Drive.
• Clearing blocked stormwater drains on 2nd October Drive and Masibambisane Street.
• Deep patching works on 16th June Street.
• Construction of road layerworks on Embizweni Street.
• Refreshing faded road markings in Ivory Park Extension 9 to improve safety and visibility.

The interventions form part of the City’s commitment to restoring service delivery, improving infrastructure, and addressing long-standing concerns in Region A communities.

FIRE DESTROYS HOMES IN IVORY PARK

A devastating fire broke out late last night at Ivory Park eMa 11, leaving three (3) households homeless.

The blaze started at around 22:40 and quickly spread through the shacks, reducing everything to ashes.

Families have lost all their belongings and are now left with nothing.

At this stage, the cause of the fire remains unclear.
