Dogtales
29/06/2026
The chilly weather didn’t stop our pet sitting adventures. While the dogs made the most of every sunny patch to recharge their batteries, we made sure they stayed warm and comfortable when the temperatures dropped, with cosy jerseys, soft blankets, and plenty of love and care 💚
We all want our dogs to be sociable and friendly… but what if you have a dog that’s too happy?
It becomes a problem.
It often gets overlooked or excused. People look at the breed and assume it’s just part of their nature. When in reality it’s often a dog that’s overstimulated, has poor boundary skills, and lacks emotional regulation.
A dog that drags you to every person or dog, jumps all over visitors, can’t settle in exciting environments, or struggles to hear you isn’t just “friendly”—they’re struggling to control themselves.
The solution isn’t to stop them from enjoying people. It’s to teach them how to enjoy them appropriately.
Work on impulse control, calm engagement, focus around distractions, appropriate greetings, and rewarding calm behaviour instead of excitement. The goal isn’t a dog that’s less social—it’s a dog that can think before they react.
A calm dog is still a happy dog. In fact, they’re often far more confident.
