PART 2 — WORKING THROUGH EMOTIONAL & PHYSICAL FEAR AS A RIDER

Not every difficult feeling in the saddle needs to become a “fear.”
Sometimes your body is simply asking for support, preparation or recovery.

For riders, confidence comes from learning to understand the difference between:
• nerves
• pressure
• tension
• overwhelm
• and genuine fear

The answer is not to become tougher by ignoring your emotions.
The answer is to become more connected to them without letting them control your riding.

When emotions rise at shows:
• Focus on ONE job at a time
• Keep your body soft and breathing
• Stick to your routine
• Ride the plan, not the pressure
• Avoid comparing your journey to others around you

Your nervous system responds to what you repeatedly practise.
That means calm, positive experiences matter.

Confidence can be rebuilt through:
• Flatwork that creates control and rhythm
• Smaller tracks ridden well
• Clear goals instead of outcome obsession
• Good coaching
• Giving yourself permission to progress gradually

Physical fear also deserves respect.
Sometimes riders are mentally ready, but their body still holds tension after stress, injury, burnout or a fall. That is normal. Healing confidence takes patience.

The strongest riders are not the ones who never struggle.
They are the riders who continue showing up with honesty, consistency and kindness toward themselves and their horses.

Ride for progress. 💪
Ride for partnership.🤲
Ride for the love of improving.👌

Confidence follows consistency.

Some losses remind us just how much our coaches carry… often in silence. ❤️‍🩹

Behind every lesson, every round, every success — there is a coach giving their time, their energy, their heart.
Showing up for everyone else, even on the days they’re struggling themselves.

This post is for the coaches.
The ones who feel the pressure.
The responsibility.
The constant need to be “strong” for everyone around them.
You don’t have to carry it all alone.

This year, let’s change the way we support our coaches — not just as professionals, but as people.

How to Prevent Equestrian Burnout was written with you in mind.

To help you find balance, protect your energy, and build a career that doesn’t come at the cost of yourself.

Because you matter too. Always.

🌀YOUR FOCUS DETERMINES YOUR REALITY 🌀

"Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right." – Henry Ford

Your mind is the MAP for your life. It spends every second of your day mapping out the best way for you to reach what you're after.

Focus on your goal, don't look in any direction but ahead.

What you focus on inevitably is the direction you will head. If you believe you will fail, not good enough or don't have what it takes, your mind will work to prove you right.

If you believe you have what it takes to succeed, again, your mind will look for every opportunity to assist you in doing so.

"Where focus goes, energy flows."

Learn to pay attention to your attention. Constantly evaluate the quality of your thoughts daily. And most importantly be aware of the fuel you are feeding your mind and your body. 👌
