Umngeni Youth Indaba 2026

The uMngeni Unemployed Graduates Forum in partnership with Democracy Development Program NPC and other stakeholders successfully hosted a powerful Youth Indaba with over 60 young people in attendance.

Participants were engaged and educated on the importance of voter registration and active democratic participation

The uMngeni Unemployed Graduates Forum (MUGF), in partnership with the 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 and key stakeholders, is proud to announce the upcoming 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐛𝐚 2026, a platform aimed at empowering young people and encouraging active participation in shaping their future.

The event will be held on 15 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 2026 at 𝐌𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥, under the theme:
“Your Vote, Your Future – Make It Count.”

The Youth Indaba seeks to bring together young people, community leaders, and development partners to engage in meaningful discussions around youth empowerment, civic participation, and socio-economic opportunities. The programme will focus on educating young people about the importance of their voice in decision-making processes and encouraging them to actively participate in democratic processes.

Attendees will have an opportunity to:
* Engage with leaders and stakeholders
* Gain valuable knowledge on civic responsibility
* Participate in discussions that affect their future
* Access information on youth development opportunities

MUGF remains committed to creating platforms that uplift and empower young people within the uMngeni community.

Looking for an opportunity to serve your community, gain practical experience, and earn a stipend?

The National Youth Service programme is offering young people across all 9 provinces the opportunity to participate in a 6-month programme focused on community service, skills development, and meaningful work experience that can help strengthen future career pathways.

WHO CAN APPLY?
• South African citizen with a valid ID
• Must be between 18 and 35 years old
• Live within the local municipality or community where the programme site is located
• Be able to travel easily to the implementing partners site
• Preference for unemployed youth not in education, employment, or training (NEET)
• Must be able to contribute positively to the community and complete the programme to a high standard
• Must not have participated in previous phases of the programme
• People living with disabilities are encouraged to apply
