The phrase "I hate the teachings of the Nicolaitans" comes from Jesus' letters to the seven churches in the Book of Revelation (chapters 2-3), specifically praising the church in Ephesus for hating these practices and rebuking the church in Pergamum for tolerating them, alongside the similar doctrine of Balaam. The Nicolaitans promoted practices like eating food sacrificed to idols and sexual immorality, which compromised faith with pagan culture, leading to a warning to repent or face judgment, as Christ hates this compromise.
