There are 8.1 million people who are officially unemployed in our country today.

Let that sink for a moment. This is not a mere statistic - it is 8.1 million hungry stomachs, deferred dreams, anxious families, and restless young people facing a bleak future.
According to Statistics South Africa’s latest Q1 2026 report, our official unemployment rate now stands at 32.7%, one of the highest in the world. Among the youth - our future - it is even worse, with nearly 46% of young people without work.

These stats really made me think deep: the officials who continue to move us out of the road with their blue lights…where are they rushing to? If unemployment continues at this rate. Kanti niyendzani nele GNU?

Our school visit to Philena Primary School who won R50 000 from the Most Devoted School Competition as the 2nd runner up. With the prize money the school installed 2 borehole water tanks and water filter at the school. This borehole water tanks will help the school especially on days where there is no water in the area and they won’t need to send the learners home as the school will still be able to function. The school also has a garden and they plant and grow vegetables like spinach, kale, carrots, garlic, chillies, potatoes and peppers. This garden is maintained by some of the parents from the school.
