Bump to Bundle
10/05/2026
Before a mother ever holds her baby in her arms, the placenta has already been holding that connection for months.
It is the extraordinary organ that grows uniquely for each pregnancy, quietly nourishing, oxygenating and sustaining life, while mother and baby remain deeply connected long before they meet face to face.
That is what makes it so powerful, and so purposeful.
The placenta is not incidental. It is life-giving. It is created for one baby, in one pregnancy, to meet that baby’s needs, protecting and supporting growth in ways most women are never truly taught to understand.
And even after birth, its role is not always over in an instant. In those first precious moments, the placenta can still be supporting a baby’s transition to life outside the womb, which is why understanding it can shape the choices a woman makes around birth, the third stage of labour, cord clamping, and the early hours with her baby.
When women understand the placenta more deeply, they are often better equipped to protect those first moments and make more informed choices for themselves and their babies.
