There are those events, that you sign up to as early as possible. This is one of them for me. Having covered the media for the event for the past four years and being privileged to witness the the transformation of the desert, from barren brown often grassless lands to lush green grassland and this year to having wet shoes from crossing the multitude of streams flowing after great summer rains. I may have missed the epic thunderstorms, but getting my feet wet in a desert stream is priceless. The Augrabies Falls Klipspringer Challenge is an amazing event, filled with passionate people. The event not only supports some local industries, but also contributes to conservation and supporting the SANParks - Augrabies Falls National Park. It's honestly amazing and very worthwhile. It's also family friendly and for those that love mountain biking, there are numerous bike trails to go enjoy as well.
