A Lay Yah

For most of my life, I've wrestled with where my spiritual gifts belonged.

When I was about 5 years could feel energy flowing through my hands. From 8 I would see silhouettes of light around people—most often a beautiful white light. At 12 years old, I began speaking in tongues in church. I didn't have language for these experiences then; I simply knew that Spirit had been communicating with me from a young age.

As the years passed, life happened. Trauma happened. Growth happened. And slowly, I began rediscovering those gifts, embracing them in a way that felt authentic to who I am.

Recently, someone I know suffered a sudden, life-threatening illness. Their family reached out to their community asking for prayers, healing, and support.

Like so many others, I felt called to hold space for them.

During my Reiki meditation, something extraordinary unfolded.

As I focused on sending Divine healing energy, I became aware of two beings standing beside the person's bed. They weren't speaking, simply holding a protective presence.

Then I became aware of someone standing to my left.

I turned.

It was Jesus.

I actually laughed.

Not because it was funny, but because it felt so natural and yet so unexpected.

I remember saying,

"Jesus... what are You doing here?"

His response was immediate, gentle, and filled with love.

"Because they called me to be here."

In that instant, something inside me shifted.

It wasn't about religion.
It wasn't about Reiki.
It wasn't about being right.

It was about love responding to sincere intention.

The family had called upon Jesus with all their hearts, and in my experience, His presence was unmistakable.

I then asked,

"Is it okay that I'm here?"

He smiled and simply replied,

"Yes. Carry on, do what you have come here to do. "

There was no judgement.
No separation.
No sense that one path excluded another.

Only love.

Only service.

Only the shared intention to bring comfort, healing, and peace.

That moment reminded me that I am not the healer.

None of us are.

We are simply willing vessels through which Divine Love can flow.

This experience has given me even greater confidence to stop hiding who I am.

To embrace my gifts.

To trust what I have known since I was a little girl.

To serve with humility, integrity, and an open heart.

I don't expect everyone to understand my experiences, and that's okay. We each walk our own unique spiritual path.

This is simply my truth.

And perhaps, if it resonates with you, it serves as a gentle reminder that the Divine is always closer than we think—meeting each of us in the language our hearts understand.
