The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has appealed for dialogue with interest groups following calls for national pickets against the agency that have circulated on social media. The agency said it had noted videos calling for protests in several parts of the country, with the Western Cape reportedly expected to be the epicentre of the planned demonstrations.

According to Sassa, the calls have been promoted by a well-known TikTok content creator who claims to represent grant beneficiaries in the Western Cape and other parts of South Africa.

The Nedbank Gravel Burn 2026 will be supported through a unique partnership with industry brands to provide tech support for the seven-day gravel stage race in the Karoo from 25 to 31 October. The announcement was made in a press release by Nedbank media representative Sarah Harrop on 8 July.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) alerts consumers to the recall of selected SPAR yoghurt products as notified by SPAR. The recall affects SPAR Fat Free Yoghurt, Low Fat Yoghurt, Double Cream Yoghurt, Indulge Double Cream Yoghurt and SPAR Active Drinking Yoghurt products. The affected products have a sell-by date of 9 August 2026 and a use-by date of 12 August 2026. These products were sold nationally through SPAR stores from 15 June 2026.

SPAR informed the NCC that the recall is due to a machine malfunction during production, resulting in product blowing. This may cause changes in the product’s taste, smell, and appearance. Consumption of the affected products may cause stomach upset.
