πŸ’° EVERY E-HAILING DRIVER IN SA NEEDS TO KNOW THEIR TRUE COST PER KM.

Most drivers don't know this number. And it's costing them money every single day.

πŸ“Š TYPICAL JOBURG DRIVER:
β†’ Fuel: ~R1.50/km
β†’ Maintenance: ~R0.50/km
β†’ Vehicle rental: ~R1.00/km
β†’ TOTAL: R3.00/km minimum

If your app pays R4.50/km β€” you're making R1.50 profit. Not R4.50.

At 200km per day:
β†’ Revenue: R900
β†’ Real costs: R600
β†’ Actual profit: R300

Know your numbers. Drive smarter. Earn more. πŸ’›

Save this. Share with a fellow driver.

πŸ€” DID YOU KNOW?

In South Africa, e-hailing drivers contribute an estimated R4 BILLION to the economy every year.

Yet many of these same drivers:
❌ Have no funeral or burial cover
❌ Have no emergency financial backup
❌ Drive vehicles without proper maintenance
❌ Operate without verified, signed agreements

The e-hailing industry is massive β€” but drivers are often left unprotected.

We believe that needs to change. πŸ’›

What do YOU think should be done to better support e-hailing drivers in SA?

πŸŒ™ NIGHT DRIVING IN JOBURG β€” THE RULES HAVE CHANGED.

After dark the risks are different. Here is how smart drivers adapt:

πŸ”’ SECURITY FIRST

β†’ Doors locked at all times

β†’ Windows up in quiet areas

β†’ Bags and valuables out of sight

πŸ‘€ VISIBILITY

β†’ Clean your windscreen inside AND outside β€” smearing kills night vision

β†’ Adjust mirrors to reduce glare from cars behind you

🚢 PEDESTRIANS

β†’ They wear dark clothing and walk on the road at night

β†’ Slow down in residential areas β€” especially near taverns

⚑ FATIGUE

β†’ If you feel sleepy β€” pull over safely and rest 20 minutes

β†’ Fatigue is as dangerous as drunk driving

Your life. Your family. Your income. Protect them. πŸ™

πŸ” BEFORE YOU HAND OVER YOUR CAR KEYS β€” CHECK THESE 5 THINGS.

Too many car owners in Gauteng hand their vehicle to a stranger and hope for the best.

Here is what to verify BEFORE any driver touches your car:

1️⃣ VALID DRIVER'S LICENCE β€” Check it physically. Check the expiry date.

2️⃣ PrDP β€” Required by law for e-hailing. No PrDP = operating illegally.

3️⃣ PLATFORM RATING β€” Ask for their Uber or Bolt rating. Below 4.5 is a red flag.

4️⃣ REFERENCES β€” Ask for the last car owner they rented from. Call that person.

5️⃣ CRIMINAL RECORD β€” Ask for a police clearance certificate.

The right driver will not be offended by these checks.
The wrong driver will be. πŸ™

YOUR TYRES ARE THE ONLY PART OF YOUR CAR TOUCHING THE ROAD.

Yet most drivers check them... never.

Here is what under-inflated tyres do:

❌ Increases fuel consumption by up to 10%
❌ Reduces braking control significantly
❌ Causes blowouts β€” especially in Joburg summer heat

How to check properly:

βœ… Tread depth β€” stick a R2 coin in the groove. See the silver rim? Replace immediately.
βœ… Pressure β€” check monthly and before long trips
βœ… Sidewall β€” no cracks, bulges or cuts
βœ… Don't forget the SPARE β€” check it too

Joburg roads will find your weak tyre. Make sure it can't. πŸ™

❄️ JOBURG WINTER DRIVING β€” ARE YOU PREPARED?

June in Gauteng means one thing β€” bitter cold. And cold weather creates very specific dangers for e-hailing drivers that most people don't think about. Here is how to protect yourself and your vehicle this winter:

🌫️ MORNING FOG

β†’ Switch headlights ON even in daylight
β†’ Reduce speed β€” visibility drops fast on the East Rand
β†’ Never use hazards while moving β€” it blinds other drivers

🌑️ COLD ENGINE

β†’ Let your engine warm up for 2–3 minutes before moving
β†’ Cold starts put serious strain on oil circulation
β†’ Check your oil level more frequently in winter

🧊 FROSTY WINDSCREEN

β†’ NEVER pour hot water on a frozen windscreen β€” it cracks the glass
β†’ Use an ice scraper or wait for the heater to clear it
β†’ Always carry a small cloth to clear condensation inside

πŸ”‹ WEAK BATTERY

β†’ Cold weather kills old batteries faster than anything
β†’ If your car is slow to start in the mornings β€” get the battery tested now
β†’ A dead battery in the middle of a shift costs you the whole day

πŸ›ž TYRE PRESSURE

β†’ Cold air causes tyre pressure to drop
β†’ Check your tyres every Monday morning in winter
β†’ Under-inflated tyres in cold weather = dangerous on icy bridges
Stay warm. Drive safe. Look after your car this winter. πŸ™

Save this and share with a fellow driver. πŸ’›
