β¨ Today I'm excited to finally share the name of the next chapter in my journey with dogs.
Welcome to the Canine Care & Wellness Centre (CCWC).
I chose this name because it represents exactly what I want this business to be. A place where dogs receive compassionate care that supports their health, comfort and wellbeing, especially when they need it most.
One of the services closest to my heart will be our Recovery Care Centre.
The inspiration for this began many years ago with my own Rottweiler.
Izzi ruptured one cruciate ligament and underwent surgery. Like many energetic dogs, keeping her quiet during recovery was incredibly difficult. Before she had fully healed, she damaged the repair and needed surgery again.
After she had finally recovered, she ruptured the cruciate ligament in her other knee. Once again, keeping such an active dog resting quietly during recovery was one of the biggest challenges we faced.
Watching her go through that journey was heartbreaking.
It also taught me something I have never forgotten.
Healing doesn't end when a dog leaves the veterinary hospital.
In many ways, that's when the real challenge begins.
Dogs don't understand why they have to rest. They don't know that one excited dash to the gate, one jump onto the couch, or one joyful greeting could slow their recovery. They simply know they're happy to see the people they love.
Over more than 11 years of grooming dogs, I've met many owners who faced the same challenge.
"My dog needs to rest... but I have to go to work."
Every time I heard those words, I thought back to my own Rottweiler.
That is one of the reasons the Canine Care & Wellness Centre was created.
Our Recovery Care Centre is designed to provide a calm, comfortable environment where dogs recovering from surgery, injury or illness can rest during the day while receiving attentive care and following the recovery plan provided by their veterinarian. At the end of the day, they return home to the people who love them.
Our goal is simple: to provide dogs with the quiet, supportive environment they need to heal, while giving owners the reassurance that their best friend is being cared for when they can't be there themselves.
This is only one part of what CCWC will offer, and I can't wait to share more with you over the coming weeks.
Welcome to the Canine Care & Wellness Centre.

ππΎ ROOF UPDATE! πΎπ
After weeks of storms, missing roof sheets, sandbags, gazebos, puddles, buckets, and enough weather drama to last us a lifetime...
WE HAVE A ROOF AGAIN! π π₯³
Okay, technically it's about 90% a roof. There is still some waterproofing and finishing work to be done, but the noisy, dusty, chaotic part is mostly behind us.
The repairs took a little longer than expected, not only because of the extent of the storm damage, but also because roof sheets were surprisingly difficult to source after the weather hit George. A huge thank you to our builders for persevering and getting us this far!
We would also like to thank all our amazing clients for your patience, understanding, support, and kindness while we navigated the aftermath of the storm. π
The best news is that:
πΆ Daycare will be fully open again from Monday.
βοΈ Grooming appointments will return to normal.
π Big dog grooming will also be back in full swing.
The dogs are thrilled that the camp is no longer attempting to double as a swimming pool, and we are thrilled that we can finally stop checking the weather forecast every seven minutes πβοΈ
Thank you again for sticking with us through all the chaos. We can't wait to welcome all our daycare dogs and grooming clients back to normal life from Monday! πΎπ

π³β‘οΈπͺ΅ Tree: Removed.
π β‘οΈβ Roof: Coming soon.
After surviving storms, leaks, sandbags, gazebos, buckets, and several emotional support towels, we finally removed the tree that was standing in the way of the roof repairs this weekend.
The builders are due to start this week and, if all goes according to plan, we should finally get a roof back over our heads! ππΎ
This does mean that things around Parlour may be a little noisier, messier, dustier, and generally more chaotic than usual while the work is underway.
We do appreciate the timing being slightly ridiculous considering we only just announced our big changes coming at the end of July.
Apparently the building has decided that before Parlour starts its next chapter, it would like one final dramatic storyline.
Thank you to everyone for your patience, support, kind messages, and understanding through all of this. We are looking forward to seeing a roof where the sky currently is βοΈππΆ

πΏ An End of an Era πΏ
After 11 wonderful years, I have made the very difficult decision to permanently close Ruda's Grooming Parlour at the end of July 2026.
This has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of watching puppies grow into seniors, caring for thousands of dogs, and building relationships with so many incredible clients. Your trust, support, and loyalty have meant more to me than I could ever properly express.
Running a busy grooming parlour is physically and emotionally demanding, and after much reflection, I have realized it is time for me to move in a different direction.
While the grooming parlour will be closing, I will still be working with animals, focusing on a calmer environment dedicated to elderly, recovering, anxious, and medically sensitive dogs.
I am deeply grateful to every client who trusted me with their beloved pets over the past 11 years. Thank you for being part of this journey and for allowing me to be part of your dogs' lives.
The parlour will remain open until the end of July, and I will do my best to help clients transition during this time.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. β€οΈπΎ
Love,
Ruda πΏ
