ABS = Anti-lock Brake System. (Not Air Brake System)
It keeps the vehicle straight / prevents jacknifes under braking by
PREVENTING the wheels from skidding ( stopping turning).
You will feel the Brake pedal shuddering/ pulsating when it is protecting you.
It will also help you if you use your retarder in slippery conditions by switching it off if your drive axles are going to lock up and slip
All modern trucks have it as standard.
Not all trailers are fitted with ABS especially in Africa. Make sure you connect your ABS cable between your horse and trailer if your trailer has an ABS plug.
If your trailer does not have ABS or you forgot to plug it in then there will be an orange ABS light on your dash just warning you.
