To be Deaf in a hearing world means constantly adapting, but it does not mean accepting disrespect. I am highly attuned to energy—I see right through the forced smiles, the masked irritation, and the aggressive shouting born out of impatience. If communicating with me with basic human decency and patience feels like an "inconvenience" to you, then your presence is a disruption to my peace. I am no longer shrinking myself or fighting a war against condescension. My quiet world is a sanctuary, and I am choosing to protect it. 🔒✨
