Rocked the most unique socks I own in honour of today 😁 Down Syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs when there is an extra copy of the 21st chromosome. As chromosomes look like colourful pairs of socks when seen under a microscope, wearing mismatched socks reminds us to celebrate the things that make each of us unique🧦 (As today is also Human Rights Day here in SA, this also beautifully reminds me of our right to human dignity - the right of a person to be respected and valued for their own sake πŸ’›)

I remember the first time I ever worked with a child with Down Syndrome. We were doing some pretend play in our session and every time I pretended to cry, this little girl immediately dropped all her toys and came running to give me the most massive hug!!

She dropped everything. To show love. To bring comfort. To be present. I realized that that little girl knew more about love and compassion than many of us as adults do. What a beautiful example πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’›
