This carousel is the first in our series on neurodiversity in the workplace. Our aim is to clarify the language around neurodiversity so that leaders, managers, and consultants can build truly inclusive environments.
In this first carousel of our series, we break down key terms like:
โ๏ธ Neurotypical vs Neurodivergent
โ๏ธ Neurodiversity vs Neurodiverse
โ๏ธ Neurominorities in the workplace
Understanding the language is the first step to building cultures where all ways of thinking are valued.

๐ Good Access in Action โ Riversdal ๐
Meet Hennie and Lynette Truter โ business owners who have turned accessibility into action.
When they built the parking lot for their property in Riversdal they didnโt just tick boxes. They consulted directly with residents from the Wallace Anderson Home for Persons with Disabilities in Riversdal and worked with an architect to make sure the space would work in real life, not just on paper.
The result?
โ
A large, clearly marked accessible bay
โ
Smooth, uninterrupted route from car to pavement
โ
Thoughtful design that welcomes everyone
This is what leadership in Universal Access looks like. And hereโs our one recommendation to make it even better: install a 2 m vertical pole with the blue wheelchair sign so the space is visible from all angles and protected from misuse.
Architects, developers, and business owners โ hereโs the takeaway: talk to the people who will use your space, design with their needs in mind, and youโll create something that works for everyone.
๐ Letโs celebrate Hennie and Lynette for setting a high standard in inclusive design.
