Gudaf Tsegay has been handed a four-month sanction after testing positive for Letrozole in an out-of-competition test last December.
Tsegay — the 2022 world 5,000m champion, 2023 world 10,000m champion, and former 5,000m world record holder (14:00.21) — disclosed the finding immediately and provided medical documentation showing the substance was prescribed to treat a diagnosed condition. World Athletics confirmed her treatment met TUE standards. WADA denied the retroactive exemption.
The AIU classified the violation under no fault or negligence. The four-month ban runs through September 30 — meaning she misses the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest (Sept. 11–13).
She’s eligible to race again October 1.
SHE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW 😭🤯
After crossing the line in 10.63, Adaejah Hodge ran straight into the tunnel focused on one thing: making it through Day 1 and getting ready for the final.
Then officials called her back 👀
That’s when she found out she had broken the NCAA record, become the fifth-fastest woman in world history, and needed her spikes weighed. 🚨🔥
