Looking back on the recent South African Navy Festival in Simonโ€™s Town, Cybicom Atlas Defence would like to take a moment to appreciate all our Navyโ€™s efforts in protecting and serving our country.

This also offers an opportunity to reflect on ongoing collaboration and the impact of projects delivered through this partnership over time.

Here are some of our most memorable projects delivered through this partnership:

๐Ÿ. ๐„๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐“๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ž๐ (๐„๐“๐)
Installed in 2010, the ETB was created as a mock submarine combat information centre. It is equipped with a functional periscope simulator and replicated ISUS 90-45 consoles from onboard the Type 209 submarines. This training environment can simulate moving targets, SONAR readings and navigation missions concurrently. One of our longest project timelines but well worth the result!

This simulator required three subunits in terms of software, hydraulics and simulation generator to be developed. The periscope itself includes a motor drive to move through the levels and an intercom system for instructor communication. The graphical simulation interface includes different weather conditions, targets, and terrain, which makes the PSIM an incredible combination of software and hardware.

๐Ÿ‘. ๐๐š๐ฏ๐š๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ ๐ž ๐’๐ข๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐จ๐ซ
Finally, our naval bridge simulator is configured as a naval warship console where the SAN can train and run various scenarios, including flight landing, radar system monitoring, and more. The interface uses custom-developed graphics to deliver realistic views and vessel movement.

These reflect a partnership weโ€™re proud to be part of โ€“ and one we look forward to building on in the future!

Necessity is the mother of invention.

As soon as the hard lockdown ended, CAD technician Rudzani Malange went to work on making an automated hand sanitiser. Using a motion sensor to detect peopleโ€™s hands and a small motor to squeeze the spray mechanism, this little box keeps our employeesโ€™ hands clean every day!
