: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is inherited in what’s called an autosomal recessive pattern. This means a child must inherit a faulty CF gene from BOTH parents to develop CF.

If both parents are carriers:
• 25% chance the child will have CF
• 50% chance the child will be a carrier
• 25% chance the child will not have CF or be a carrier

If one parent has CF and the other is a carrier:
• 50% chance the child will have CF
• 50% chance the child will be a carrier

Every pregnancy carries the same chances, regardless of previous children. 🧬
